Joshua 1:8-9

The simple verses of Joshua 1:8-9 remind me of those simple words by ee cummings. I carry God with me wherever I go. The heart of His truth is written on my heart. He is with me always.
The challenge is remembering that He is always there. I am so easily distracted by shiny things, scary things, things with rough sharp edges that prick and pull at me. I think these are things that we all struggle with in the various seasons of our lives. This scripture reminds us...God is always with us. It reminds us to not take His word for granted. It calls on us to purposely examine and pick apart His word. To make a deliberate effort pull His words from the depths of our hearts and make them a part of our thoughts and actions.
When the sharp edges and deep slopes of the world are around us, God is there. His word is there to guide us. Fear, guilt, shame, anxiety...these things are fleeting and weak because we carry God with us. All we have to to is open our hearts and quiet our minds.
